We still have many leaves to rake (typically don't rake all of them). I was interested to learn recently that one several of the trees at the back of the property are of the "burr oak" variety. One of the unique features of this variety is that they cast their fruit every three years or so in order to overwhelm the consumers. This strategy is called "masting" and targets the survival of some seedlings. The photo in this picture was taken on a walkin early November--don't know what kind of tree this is but the steeple is clearly Methodist.
